Groups on the Web

The information you find on the Web is as varied as the people who put it there. Groups that publish information on the Web include:

Libraries - Lesley's Library Web site and other academic libraries' sites include access to electronic books and articles.

Universities - Colleges and universities use the Web to publish information about their institutions and pages created by faculty and students.
American flag
Government Agencies - Federal, state and local governments use the Web to publish information generated by their agencies and departments, including legislation, census information, and educational frameworks.
United Nations logo
Organizations - Nonprofit and nongovernmental groups publish information about their purposes. Examples: United Nations, American Lung Association, National Rifle Association. These sites are good sources for comparing different sides of an issue.
Companies - Many companies use the Web to publish promotional, marketing, product and service information.
Pay-per-use Information Sources - Libraries subscribe to these so students don't have to! Examples: article databases, newspaper archives, photograph collections.
Group of people
People - Anyone, anywhere in the world with a computer and a phone connection can publish personal sites, special interest pages, and Weblogs.
